    Tactics advice needed....

Hi all. I am playing around with the standalone version of Falcon Online's "Battle for Balkans" and am very confused as how to get anything accomplished ! I keep getting shot down by SA-10s. No idea where they are located, not showing up on the 2D map.

So what do I do ? These things need to be taken out....how do I do that?

I'm flying the F-15E, if it matters. Just for fun.

Take note of where you are flying when you get shot down. SA-10's have a range of 50 NM. So wherever you are when you go down in flames its about 50 miles away. I know this doesn't help much, but without ELINT intel triangulating for you, you may need to do your own triangulation.

Another option is to select RECON on various cities, bases, radar sites etc. Even though it doesn't show up on the map, it will show up when you recon an area.

If neither of these options work let us know. There is a 3rd option.

    Cheers

Check the briefing before you take off. There will be a list of SAM threats in the briefing. They will tell you where they are with distance and bearing from a city. The cities can be found in the OOB under the flag, objectives, political. Click on the city then at the bottom click on find. The map will center on the city with the city name in white under it. Now use the ruler tool to mark the bearing and distance from the city and put a threat point there.

Use the AGM-88 HARM. Get up to about 30kft and go very fast and fly just into the threat circle and launch the HARM at the SA-10. This will get the SA-10 to show up on the HAD most likely. If it doesn't appear on the HAD then shoot it using one of the POS modes at the threat point steer point then pump immediately.

The SA-10 tends to shoot at close to its maximum range and flies at about mach 5.5. That is 1nm/sec so it will get to you in about 50 seconds. If you pump and fly away fast before getting to within 45nm of the launcher then you should be able to get outside its maximum range before it reaches you.

You can also try flying with an HTS Pod. Have it up on one of your MFD's and use it like a poor man's RWR. You should see the 10.

Here's how I handle the SA-10. It works 95% of the time.

    1. Start out at angles 25.
    2. When you're about 70-75nm from the target start a high angle afterburner climb
    3. When you're at 59-60nm from the target and still climbing, fire the 88
    4. Do a split-S and go the other direction

Usually, I'm around 30-35,000 ft when I fire. The HARM will continue to climb and at it's apex start navigating down to the target. It should destroy the radar system.

Like I said, it works about 95% of the time.

    Good Luck.
